'Aldear' in Douro, Tâmega e Sousa

A meeting of meetings in the villages of Douro, Tâmega e Sousa

'Aldear' [from the Portuguese word 'Aldeia', that means village in English] means meeting.

'Aldear' is a cultural project that has activated the communities of 11 villages and neighbourhoods in the municipalities of the Douro, Tâmega e Sousa region. A meeting between local identities and the specific methods of structures of contemporary artistic creation from various parts of the country.

'Aldear' is a multidisciplinary artistic project, on a human scale, centred around people and the search for a different time. It is a meeting of processes that has given rise to 11 public exhibitions based on artistic journeys, community shows, installations and conversations.

Congregating, populating, settling, gathering, and enjoying are synonyms with Aldear, a project that aims to empower, enhance skills and local identity, empower communities and contribute to the sense of belonging of the people involved..
